Questions & Answers

As a sponsor, what will I receive throughout the year?

Once we receive your first monthly gift of $30, we will send you a sponsorship package which includes a photo and story of your child, as well as other valuable information about your child's country and how to best correspond with your child.  Throughout the year you will receive a monthly receipt for each payment sent.  We will also do our best to provide you with a yearly update on your individual child.

Can I write to my child?

Yes!  We encourage you as a new sponsor to send your child a letter of introduction along with a picture of yourself and your family.  You may continue to write your child as often as you wish.  Simply include any correspondence along with your monthly gift and we will forward it on to your child.  We understand that, as a sponsor, you will want to hear from your child.  However, through our experiences overseas, we have seen that this can be very difficult at times.  Our program is very unique.  We view our role as one of a helper to our partnering ministries.  We are here to help them, not to create more of a workload for them.  We feel that asking them to have the children respond to every letter the sponsor may write, in some cases, may be asking too much.  This would also be a great strain and expense for these ministries that are in very remote locations where it is extremely difficult to send just one small letter.  So, please do not be discouraged if your child does not write as often as you would like.

May I send gifts to my child?

You may enclose small, flat paper items such as postcards, greeting cards, stickers, bookmarks, pages from a coloring book, and photos along with the letter you write. These items should fit in a regular 6X9 envelope.

What kind of benefits will my child actually receive?

Sponsorship affects every area of the child's life.  You will help meet the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of your child.  By alleviating the physical needs of the child first, you are able to show them God's love and compassion.

How do you meet the needs of children living in an orphanage or in a large family?

We would never feed one hungry child and ignore the other hungry children living with them.  We feel that all of the children are special and should be treated equally.  Through the combined efforts of sponsors, we are able to meet the needs of a community of children through special projects such as food and clothing distribution, vaccinations, health care, special educational opportunities and simply meeting their most urgent needs.

What if my child moves or leaves the program?

One of the joys of becoming a sponsor is having the opportunity to watch your particular child develop and mature.  However, on occasions, your special child may have to move or withdraw from the sponsorship program.  There can be any number of reasons for this occurring.  A family may need to relocate to improve their financial situation.  Family members may also choose to remove a child from an orphanage.  We will always give you the opportunity to sponsor another wonderful child in need of love.
