Help a child survive the hunger crisis
Donate to provide immediate lifesaving relief
The global hunger crisis threatens the lives of millions of vulnerable children. World Help is currently working with partners on the ground in northern Uganda providing food, water and other lifesaving supplies to desperate children and their families. Please donate today to help us continue to provide this crucial humanitarian aid.
While Jesus was on earth, he practiced revolutionary compassion—the kind of love that has the power to transform and restore—a love that can truly change the world.
World Help was started in 1991 out of a desire to continue this vision. Through centering our mission on bringing physical help and spiritual transformation, we believe God will do the impossible for millions of impoverished, desperate people on every corner of the world.
It’s estimated that globally more than 800 million people suffer from hunger and malnutrition — and, distressingly, their numbers have been increasing. And in East Africa, in particular, the hunger crisis is escalating at an alarming rate, due to regional conflict and catastrophic drought. There has been an influx of over a million desperate refugees to underdeveloped Northern Uganda from neighboring South Sudan. These refugees arrive in a dire state — exhausted, emaciated and on the brink of death due to starvation and injuries sustained en route. And it’s the children who are suffering most, many of whom have been orphaned by the tribal warfare.
You can help save a child from starving
The first three years are critical to a child’s growth and overall health. They are also the years when a child is most susceptible to death due to famine, drought, disease and malnutrition.
You may have seen heartbreaking photos in the news of desperate, starving refugee children with their swollen, protruding bellies and alarmingly thin limbs. Seeing them in person is much worse — their frail bodies are simply wasting away. They move more slowly than other boys and girls. They don’t have the energy to play, laugh, or explore like normal, healthy children. Looking into their eyes, they looked haunted and hopeless. They have seen unimaginable violence and destruction.
These precious, innocent children are literally dying of hunger because of evil and violence outside of their control. Those who survive often are subject to severe and chronic health issues for the rest of their lives. The future is bleak for these children. No parent would ever want this to happen to their child.
Please donate to provide humanitarian aid
World Help is working with its partners on the ground in northern Uganda providing the refugees with humanitarian aid including immediate emergency supplies of food, water, hygiene supplies, shoes and blankets, thanks to generous donors like you. But the need is immense. You can help us continue to save the lives of children and their families by donating today.
In Matthew 14, Jesus’ disciples asked Him what was for dinner. Jesus had spent a long day healing the sick. As evening came, His disciples came to Him and said:
“…send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” (Matthew 14:15, ESV)
But Jesus had compassion on the crowd. Instead of sending the hungry away, He used a small portion of food to perform a miracle and feed over 5,000 men, women, and children. Throughout the New Testament, Jesus is found feeding the physically and spiritually hungry.
For $120, you can follow in the footsteps of Jesus and feed a hungry child. Just 12 cents a day will provide nutrition for his first 1,000 days of life.
Urgent action is needed to save lives
