Help families displaced by the Mayon volcano in the Philippines
How You can Help
Help families displaced by the Mayon volcano in the Philippines$55
The need: An active volcano has driven thousands into temporary shelter
Mount Mayon is the most active volcano in the Philippines. It has wreaked havoc on this island nation many times. And now it is set to erupt again. As of Jan. 30, 2018, the volcano is on alert level 4 — meaning a hazardous eruption is imminent. Lava and ash spew from it several times a day. And the residents of the Philippines watch in fear.
To avoid the death toll caused by past eruptions, the government has proactively ordered everyone within 9 kilometers of the Mayon volcano to evacuate. More than 72,000 people are now living in temporary shelters. They are safe from the volcano, but their homes, livelihoods, and possessions are not. And while they wait, these displaced people need food, water, and other daily essentials to stay healthy and safe.
The people of the Philippines are facing a tremendous crisis, and they need help now.
Strategy: Provide food, water, and other essentials
We have trusted partners in the Philippines who are ready to help those affected by the Mount Mayon volcano. They work with local churches to distribute relief supplies quickly and effectively.
Through these partners we can deliver aid to the temporary shelters where people need it most. Any gifts they receive will meet immediate needs while providing spiritual hope to those facing perhaps the greatest disaster of their lifetimes.
