Crisis in the Middle East Rages On

In recent days, the astounding refugee crisis in the Middle East has escalated to even more alarming levels. ISIS’s bloodthirsty rampage continues to create fear-induced panic, scattering thousands from their homes to traverse the perilous landscape dividing many international borders.Coalition airstrikes have their sights set on destroying the strongholds of the extremist group, which are precariously interspersed in crowded residential areas.

In the past few days alone, over 150,000 villagers from northern Syria have escaped to the Turkish border, where many are being turned away . . . left with the choice to return to the frontlines of a war-zone or to die of starvation and exposure in the desert.

Christians in the region are in imminent danger of extreme persecution, displacement, torture, and genocide. In 2003, Iraq was home to over 1 million Christians. Today, the population has dwindled to less than 300,000.

The life and faith of millions of refugees hangs precariously in the balance. Countless men, women, and children will continue to perish needlessly if we do not act immediately.

In recent weeks, World Help has expanded our network of aid partners on the ground serving those in desperate need. We have joined hands with the Vicar of Baghdad Canon Andrew White and his Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East, as well as others to create a strategic long-term response to this devastating crisis.

Our teams are strategically positioned on the ground and have been responding to the influx of refugees for months. Our teams are working around the clock to provide life-saving humanitarian assistance—food, clean water, shelter, bedding, hygiene kits, and basic medicines to families in the region who have lost everything. However, they desperately require more funding to accommodate the growing need.

• A gift of $20 is enough to provide food and medicine for 1 refugee child for one month.
• A gift of $120 will provide food and medicine for 6 refugee children for one month.
• A gift of $1,200 to provide food and medicine for 60 refugee children for one month.

Any amount you give will provide immediate aid for our brothers and sisters who are suffering—a meal, a glass of clean water, a vaccination for a sick child, a bed for an elderly woman.

We cannot wait. We must act now.
