A few weeks ago, we received the tragic news that Nildo, the Brazilian street child who is the inspiration behind our Child Sponsorship Program, had passed away.
For years, Nildo’s incredible story has touched the lives of thousands around the world, both as an encouragement and a challenge to move beyond being merely overwhelmed by the injustices of poverty, to “seeing the one” and responding with compassion.
World Help’s Vice President Noel Brewer Yeatts wrote the following words that capture the magnitude of his loss in each of our hearts:

Because of Nildo’s remarkable influence in the lives of so many, we have made the coverage of his memorial service available to you below. We invite you—whether you’ve heard his story or not—to celebrate Nildo’s life with us today. It is a gripping testimony of how one child’s life transformed can truly change the world.
Nildo left behind a wife and three young children. The funds collected through his memorial fund will go toward providing immediate support for his surviving family.
