Rosemary and Josephine were only 8 and 11 years old when their fates crossed. They were from different communities and had never met, but they shared a common bond—extreme poverty had taken their futures captive.

That was 12 years ago. Today they are young women who claim a new bond, a new fate . . . hope.

Both Rosemary and Josephine grew up in World Help’s Child Sponsorship Program under the loving care of the Good Samaritan Children’s Home in Uganda. Their sponsors helped pave the way out of poverty by providing education, healthcare, spiritual nurturing, and personal development.

After graduating high school, these young women pursued higher education—an unthinkable ambition for thousands of impoverished Ugandan women. Today, Josephine is a certified nurse and Rosemary has earned a degree in cosmetology. Both are self-supporting and have reclaimed what poverty threatened to withhold.
