I’ve traveled to many refugee camps over the years. I’ve seen the hunger and desperation firsthand. But I’ve never seen anything like the chaos happening in Afghanistan right now.
Countless families have fled their homes and left everything behind to escape the Taliban. Now, they have no shelter, food, or water.
James 2:15-16 says, “Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?”
Will you join me in providing lifesaving help to Afghan families who are struggling to survive?
I remember the first time I visited a refugee camp. The living conditions I saw were horrible, and it was hard to believe people survived that way. Their “homes” were either tents made out of tarps and blankets or lean-tos made from metal sheets and scraps of wood.
Unfortunately, many Afghan families running for their lives today have less than that.
They’re sleeping wherever they can hide. But it isn’t easy. Since the Taliban gained control, armed militants are patrolling the streets and carrying out targeted killings.
These people are scared and starving.
The images coming out of Afghanistan and our partners’ firsthand reports remind me that I cannot afford to be complacent in my faith when people are hurting like this.
If there’s one thing I know about a crisis like the one happening in Afghanistan, it’s this: When people are dying, you don’t need to ask more questions or weigh the cost of inconvenience — you simply need to help. We need to help NOW!
Although I will never in my wildest imagination fully understand what they are going through, I cannot allow it to numb me into forgetting about their pain and suffering.
If we truly understand this, then we will do more than just watch our TV screens in disbelief.
We will do something!
All it takes is just $35 for you to do something today. Your $35 gift will provide a week’s worth of emergency food and clean water for one displaced person in Afghanistan or another high-conflict area.
By meeting someone’s physical needs, you’ll also be showing him God’s love during this crisis.
Please give today.
