Tatyana and her children ran for their lives when the Russian military bombed their city for two days straight. But even though she’s no longer on the front lines of the war, she is still doing her part to help win this fight.
When our partners in Ukraine took the World Help team to meet Tatyana, she was helping to create camouflage netting to protect Ukraine’s soldiers. “Everyone is united in this cause,” she said. “Everyone helps.”
Today, you can join the cause as well and do your part to help Ukrainian refugees and other people in need. All it takes is $35 to impact one person.
Watch the video below to see how Tatyana is helping fight this war:
When Tatyana arrived at our partners’ refugee center in Lviv, Ukraine, she didn’t know what to do next. But with the help of generous donors, they were able to take her in, provide her with a place to stay, and make sure all of her immediate needs were met.
“This church community is amazing,” she said. “The church has opened its doors to me and my family. They go the extra mile to provide everything they need and serve the community.”
She and her children received food and warm clothing — a major necessity right now since Ukraine is still getting snow.
Tatyana was incredibly grateful for the support, so when she learned about the opportunity to help create camouflage for the military, she decided it was the perfect way to pay it forward.
“I needed to do something to help,” she said.
Tatyana said that if you are looking for a way to get involved as well, one of the best ways you can do that is through prayer.
“Please pray,” she said. “It’s a secret weapon, and it helps end this evil.”
In addition to your prayers, you can also donate to provide critical relief like the help that Tatyana’s family has received. Every $35 you give will provide a week’s worth of essentials like food, clothing, and shelter for a refugee in Ukraine or another high-conflict area.
“People can’t stay home and feel safe,” Tatyana said. “But they can’t leave and feel safe either.”
When a family like hers flees, they leave everything behind. They don’t know where they’ll go next. They don’t know where their next meal will come from or how they will get the basics they need. They may be safe from the bombs, but they’ve only escaped to face another kind of fight — the fight to survive.
