Bishal might not have survived without help

The last couple of years have been hard for everyone, but Bishal almost didn’t make it out alive.

Bishal lives in South Asia with his parents, who work as missionaries in the surrounding villages. Thanks to Bishal’s child sponsors, he has access to all the essentials he needs like healthy food, educational opportunities, and basic medical care such as checkups and routine medications. But when Bishal suddenly became sick with a mysterious illness that required much more extensive treatment, his parents didn’t know what they were going to do.

Seemingly out of nowhere, Bishal came down with a fever that just kept rising. He was rushed to the village hospital, but the doctors there had no idea what was wrong. He had to be transferred to another hospital outside the village, where the medical bills started piling up.

Thankfully, Bishal’s treatment was covered by generous donors who had given to help pay for children’s hospital bills and medications in the event of a life-threatening emergency.

Watch this short video to learn more about Bishal’s story:

Bishal had to stay at the hospital for four months, where he was diagnosed with a lung infection, several organ infections, and COVID-19 on top of it all. Doctors believe that a blood disease could be responsible for his many health issues, but there’s still no conclusive diagnosis.

After four months in the hospital, Bishal was finally released. He’s stable now but still needs to see a specialist regularly. His blood disease is still a mystery, and a relapse could happen at any time. Doctors told Bishal’s parents that he’d need to go to a bigger hospital with better facilities if that happens, and they’ll need more help to afford his treatment.

He is so grateful to know that World Help sponsors and donors have his back if that were to happen.

If you’ve ever experienced a medical emergency, you know how scary it can be. Going to the hospital is bad enough, but not knowing how you’re going to pay for it makes the whole ordeal that much worse.

In situations like Bishal’s, specialized medical care can be the difference between life and death. But at the end of the day, there’s always a bill that the family might not be able to afford. Parents shouldn’t have to worry about choosing whether to feed the family or pay to treat their sick child, but it’s a harsh reality for families living in poverty.

Will you help a child like Bishal survive a medical emergency?

Child sponsorship provides for everyday needs like nutritious meals and routine medical care, but you never know when a child will become suddenly ill or face a life-threatening injury that requires additional attention.

Without proper medical care, treatable illnesses and injuries can quickly turn fatal. With your help, though, a child can overcome what could have been a death sentence.

Every $27 you give today will help meet one child’s emergency medical needs by providing emergency care like hospital stays, surgeries, critical medications and more.

No child should be prevented from receiving lifesaving medical care in an emergency, especially because they simply can’t afford it.

Click the button below to give today and make sure that doesn’t happen.
