“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16 (NIV)
John 3:16 is one of the most familiar verses in the Bible.
We learn it as children in Sunday school — memorizing the words before we can truly understand the significance of what it’s saying.
And sometimes, because it’s something that many of us have known for a long time, we take the verse — and its powerful message — for granted.
We don’t always stop to appreciate what a gift He gave us … but that can change starting today.
Watch this short devotional from World Help president Noel Brewer Yeatts for a new perspective on this famous verse:
As our partner in Uganda once said, “You can give without loving, but you can’t love without giving.”
And what a powerful statement that is — one that we should all try to put into practice. Because when you give as an act of love, you also demonstrate God’s love for the world.
You might have shown love to your neighbor by making them dinner when they’re having a hard time.
Perhaps you’ve given your time to serve at church or help a friend move.
Or maybe you’ve donated financially to charitable organizations like World Help to provide physical and spiritual aid to someone who needed it most.
Regardless of how you choose to give, what’s important is that you do give.
Love inspires generosity in us all … so give your time, money, talent, or anything else in your heart!
