Every first Thursday of May, Christ-followers across the U.S. gather for the National Day of Prayer. As you prepare to pray for the needs of our nation, please take a few moments to lift other countries in prayer, too.
We recently received prayer requests from our partners around the world. Here are just a few ways you can pray for people in need worldwide:
Honduras
Countless children in Honduras are facing complex challenges
In Honduras, 63 percent of the population lives in poverty. Many children, especially those living in impoverished communities, are joining gangs just to survive. But then, their lives are constantly at risk in a different way as they’re caught in the crosshairs of gang wars and frequent violence.
Sadly, many of these boys and girls have never heard about the love of Jesus. Others face a lifetime of poverty without hope for the future.
That’s why our partner in Honduras requested prayer for the children they’re serving.
Please pray that children in Honduras would have a desire to know about Jesus and continue to grow in their faith. Pray also that other struggling children would receive life-changing help and hope so they can look forward to a brighter future.
Peru
Many indigenous people in Peru have never heard about the love of Jesus
Almost half of Peru’s population is indigenous, and 51 of the 55 recognized indigenous groups live in the Amazon Rainforest. Since they’re so remote, many of these groups have never heard the Gospel.
One of our partners in Peru ministers in these isolated, unreached communities, working tirelessly to bring the Good News to them. They requested prayer for the hearts of men, women, and children who are encountering the Gospel for the first time.
“My prayer request every day is that there would be open hearts and open minds to the work of the Holy Spirit within native communities and ethnicities in Peru that have yet to fully comprehend the grace and presence of Jesus,” our partner said.
Ethiopia
Many Ethiopians are facing the danger of conflict once again
Ethiopia’s Tigray region has endured heavy conflict over the past few years. Countless people have lost homes, belongings, and loved ones. To make matters worse, the violence has resulted in an ongoing humanitarian aid crisis in the region.
Now, tensions are rising in northern Ethiopia once again, and many people who are already struggling to survive are facing the threat of even more conflict.
That’s why our partner in Ethiopia requested prayer for peace and stability in the Tigray region. Please pray that tensions would de-escalate and that God would provide for the men, women, and children who are struggling to rebuild.
Lebanon
Countless Lebanese civilians have been impacted by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East
The ongoing conflict in Iran has spread throughout the Middle East, and people in Lebanon have been caught in the crossfire. More than a million Lebanese citizens have been displaced by the attacks. To make matters worse, many of them are struggling to access essentials.
Our partners in Lebanon are working hard to provide help and hope during this time, and they have requested prayer that God would continue to minister to displaced people through the church.
“Pray that the church in Lebanon would be the salt and light of the Earth during times of crisis in the Middle East,” our partner said. “Ask for strength, a blessing of resources, and opportunities to be the hands and feet of Christ to internally displaced people.”
South Asia
Millions of people in South Asia are unreached with the Gospel
South Asia is incredibly diverse, with over 4,500 different people groups living within its eight countries. It’s also one of the most unreached places in the world, and millions of South Asians have never even heard the Name of Jesus.
Our partners in South Asia are equipping church planters to take the Gospel to remote and unreached communities. These Christ-followers, as well as countless others living in this region, are spreading the Good News in the face of escalating persecution.
That’s why our partners requested prayer for church planters in South Asia. Please pray that God would strengthen and provide them with the essentials and resources they need to fulfill the Great Commission. Pray also for their continued protection.
The U.S.
Many people in the U.S. are struggling in the face of poverty and crises
Finally, please pray for the U.S. Over 10 percent of Americans are living below the poverty line, without stable access to essentials like food. Others who have faced natural disasters like hurricanes, floods, and wildfires in recent years are still in the process of rebuilding.
Please pray for God’s provision for struggling men, women, and children in the U.S. Pray also that He would continue to open hearts across the country to the Gospel.
