Did you know that sponsorship has the power to break the cycle of poverty for a child in need?
For over three decades, World Help sponsors have given children around the globe hope for better, brighter futures!
Let’s take a look at our sponsorship program in Uganda for a glimpse of the impact sponsorship makes:
World Help’s History in Uganda

The Good Samaritan school gives impoverished children the opportunity to get an education through sponsorship
World Help’s partnership with Pastor Alex and the Good Samaritan school began back in 2000.
At the time, the school was only big enough for 75 sponsored children. Pastor Alex dreamed of expanding the school so more children living in poverty could receive a quality education.
Thanks to the generosity of the World Help family, this dream became a reality! Today, more than 2,600 sponsored children attend class on the large, thriving campus.
But these boys and girls receive more than just an education — they also have access to essentials like nutritious food, clean water, and medical care. Most importantly, they are introduced to the Gospel.

Child sponsorship makes an impact that lasts for generations!
By meeting the physical and spiritual needs of vulnerable children, their lives are being completely transformed. They will go on to make an impact that will last for generations to come.
Pastor Alex said it best: “What World Help is doing is the right thing. The approach is the right approach.”
One powerful example of this transformation is Pascal. His story shows exactly how sponsorship can help a child escape a future in poverty.
Pascal’s Testimony

Many Ugandan children living in poverty struggle to attend school
Pascal grew up in one of the largest slum communities in Uganda. When he was just 4 years old, his father disappeared, leaving his mother to care for Pascal and his three siblings by herself.
They lived in a tiny, one-room home. At night, the whole family had to share just one blanket to stay warm.
Pascal’s mother did her best to provide for her children, but life was hard. Looking back, she said, “Pascal grew up in a situation where we had to rely on God even for food itself.”
By the time Pascal was 8, he had never been to school. Instead, he tried to help support the family by doing odd jobs in the community. Then, in 2003, everything changed. Pascal was enrolled in sponsorship, and he finally got to attend school!

Sponsorship completely transformed the lives of Pascal and his family!
“If it were not for World Help, we would not be alive,” his mother said.
Now, Pascal is an accomplished young man. He is a qualified Bible teacher and helps people in Uganda who are going through the same struggles he once faced. Sponsorship completely changed Pascal’s life, allowing him to dream about his future — and giving him the tools to pursue those dreams.
“I stopped thinking in the small box I grew up in. Now I know greater things are possible — and that’s what I’m working toward,” Pascal said.
