Afghanistan

Since the Taliban took over Afghanistan in 2021, the country has endured one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world. Over 50 percent of Afghanistan’s population desperately needs humanitarian assistance.

The economy is failing because of widespread sanctions against the country, and unemployment rates are skyrocketing. As a result, almost 34 million people are living in poverty. Families are selling their daughters into early marriages just to afford their next meal. Countless other children must work instead of going to school. Even then, most earn less than the equivalent of $2 a day.
