On the ground in Zambia: Meeting Morris

After several days in Uganda, my trip to Africa took me next to Zambia. Although Zambia isn’t yet going back under complete lockdown like Uganda, the number of coronavirus cases is rising. And beyond the medical needs, families are still suffering the pandemic’s financial effects.

To be honest, I was a little overwhelmed by all of the needs I saw on this trip. But then I would meet someone like Morris … and I was reminded that even a small gift can make a big difference.

Watch the video below, and you can meet Morris, too.

Morris is 13 years old and lives with his mom, two older sisters, and two younger brothers. His father died seven years ago, which left his mom to care for their five children on her own. Life was hard before the pandemic, but now things are even more difficult.

His mom works as a maid when she can, but that’s her only means to support her family. It rarely puts enough food on the table for the six of them to fill their empty stomachs.

I look at Morris, and I see a young man with so much potential … a young man that you and I have the opportunity to help.

See, that’s why meeting someone like Morris is so powerful. It puts a face to the need. It’s a reminder that even if you can’t help everyone, you can help this one person.

All it takes is $14 to help provide one person with essentials like food, clean water, hygiene kits, medical care, and other physical help and spiritual hope.

You can help feed a hungry child in Zambia. You can help someone who is sick in India or Nepal with the virus. Or you could help save a life in another country where the needs are greatest.

Your gift can and will make a difference for someone like Morris.

And to that person, your gift will make all the difference.
