A Christmas packed with fun

During the holiday season, the children learned Christmas songs and enjoyed making Christmas cards for their sponsors. Most importantly, they learned about the birth of Jesus and the true reason why we celebrate.

The highlight of the season was a big Christmas party. The children participated in a variety of games and won fun prizes. They sang carols and shared Christmas poems they had memorized. One of the most exciting activities was getting to break open candy-filled piñatas!

The party included a delicious lunch with cake, apples, grapes, and lots of sweets for dessert. To conclude the celebration, the kids each received new shoes and a set of clothing as Christmas gifts. It was an unforgettable day for them!

A new chapter

In Honduras, the school year ends in December, which gave the children another reason to celebrate. Many of the kids received special awards for their hard work in school, and for those students who reached landmark years, the center hosted a special graduation ceremony.

Twenty-six kids graduated from preschool and are now ready to begin first grade. The boys and girls grinned in their black caps and gowns as they walked up to receive their diplomas. Five of the older students in the program hit an especially major milestone in their educations — they completed their bachelor’s degrees!
