2021 in Photos: Images of your incredible impact

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. So hopefully the images below will speak volumes about all the ways you provided help and hope throughout 2021.

As you scroll through these photos, you’ll see a mixture of joy and sadness. Smiles and tears. Good times and devastating ones.

But the World Help family was there through it all to help people in desperate need.

Here are some of the most powerful photos showing your impact from 2021:

Helping Afghan families during the Taliban takeover

Last summer, the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan, and families who feared for their lives fled their homes and left behind their belongings. Many have been in hiding ever since without access to basic essentials.

But thanks to generous donors like you, 140,827 displaced people from Afghanistan and other high-conflict areas received emergency food, clean water, blankets, and other aid to help them survive!

Rushing aid to earthquake victims in Haiti

Summer 2021 proved to be devastating for the people of Haiti as well. On Aug. 14, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake rattled the country, killing more than 2,200 people and leaving many others homeless.

Thankfully, monthly supporters and other donors took immediate action by rushing food, clean water, tents, generators, blankets, and more to these struggling families. The World Help family rallied around them during their greatest hour of need and showed them God’s love in a practical way.

Providing clean water for people in need

Clean water is something we often take for granted. But in 2021, ongoing droughts left villages like Habeeb’s bone-dry. Farmers had no water for their livestock, and families left out of work by the pandemic couldn’t afford to buy water. With no other options, they’d walk for miles each day … only to collect a little bit of dirty water full of bacteria.

But no more! A total of 94 water projects were completed last year, bringing lifesaving clean water to 96,849 people. And since these new wells are often located near churches, more families in remote communities are hearing the Gospel, too.

Showing children how valuable they are

Even in the midst of last year’s challenges, sponsors continued to provide for children living in poverty around the world. In addition to meeting their basic needs like food, clean water, and educational opportunities, their sponsors also made sure these boys and girls felt truly special by providing them with birthday parties, gifts, and more!

The smiles on their faces say it all. These celebrations throughout 2021 reminded children in need how much they are loved — both by their sponsors and by God.

Continuing to provide pandemic relief

Coronavirus cases continued to rise in numerous countries around the world last year. In fact, India saw such a deadly spike that overwhelmed hospitals didn’t have enough supplies to treat the influx of patients. But members of the World Help family responded by helping provide oxygen concentrator machines and monitors.

In addition to much-needed medical equipment, generous donors also helped provide struggling families with nutritious food, clean water, hygiene kits, and other essentials to make it through another difficult year.

Thank you to everyone who gave last year. Because of your generosity, a total of 1,705,559 people were impacted around the world!

Now, it’s time to look ahead to 2022. No one knows what challenges the next 12 months will bring … but you can be ready to help whenever a crisis strikes by becoming a monthly Front Line donor.
