1 Million Meals in 2015

Vernon Brewer
Dec 21, 2015

Imagine a malnourished child living high up in the mountains of Guatemala. His body is growing weaker with every passing second. His belly is swollen with parasites, and he can barely lift his head. He hasn’t eaten for days, and his breathing is becoming hard.

Without immediate help, he will become another statistic . . . another one of more than 3 million children under the age of 5 that die every year from malnutrition. But the greatest tragedy of all . . . no one beyond his family will ever notice!

When I reflect on this everyday reality, I can’t help but think of my own grandchildren, and my heart breaks. That’s why I’m begging you to join me today in sending several shipments of emergency food supplies and aid to benefit starving and needy children around the world.

Operation Baby Rescue World Help 2013

Over the past 25 years, World Help has established strategically located distribution centers in countries like Nepal, Guatemala, Honduras, Iraq, and many sub-Saharan African nations. More than $125 million of aid and relief has been supplied around the world during that time . . . saving the lives of thousands of children! But there’s still so much more to do—lives are literally hanging in the balance as the children grow increasingly desperate.

Supplies are available and our national partners are mobilized for a quick response. We just need you—your support to send these critical relief items today. Every dollar you give to cover transportation costs will allow for over 30 times the value in aid supplies to be shipped!

That means your gift has more than 30 times the impact!

Meals for Syrian refugees

OUR GOAL: To deliver 1 million meals by the end of this year to some of the most impoverished regions on earth. Hundreds of thousands of children in places like Iraq, Nepal, and Guatemala will be fed if we can accomplish this God-sized task.

For millions of children around the world, constant, debilitating hunger is a way of life. They live hidden in the indigenous villages, in the crowded refugee slums of Iraq, and in remote mountain villages along the ridges of the Himalayas. And they are suffering every single day . . . in deafening silence.

Most of us have never gone without a meal or two in our entire lives. The reality that millions of innocent children are suffering simply from a lack of food alone should radically disturb us to the core.

How can we expect these children to know God as their Savior and Lord until they experience Him as their Provider, their Helper, and their Healer? How will they hear the Good News if they’re fighting for their lives?

Please join me in providing 1 million meals to save the lives of children in need. Every dollar goes to provide 30 times the value of staple food items with the capacity to impact thousands with life-saving nutrition.

  • A gift of $500 provides 18,500 meals
  • A gift of $250 provides 9,250 meals
  • A gift of $100 provides 3,700 meals
  • A gift of $50 provides 1,850 meals

The containers we send are packed with emergency staples provided through generous donations, grants, and gifts in kind to be distributed by our trusted national partners to families with starving children. Each container carries an average of 275,000 meals—rice, beans, vegetables, and more! Only through your contributions are we able to cover the costs associated with shipping these critical supplies overseas. I believe that through your partnership, countless lives will be saved in the name of Jesus!

Earlier this year, I was working with our teams in Nepal where more than 8 million people have been directly affected by two massive earthquakes. Over 8,500 people are dead. Thousands of homes, churches, schools, and wells have been destroyed. People are homeless and full of grief.

Rebuild Nepal - World Help

Our teams were able to provide food, water, critical supplies, and medical attention to rural families. Those aid packages we put into the hands of Nepali families who are sleeping under tarps next to the rubble of their homes was the Gospel at its very best. It was food that was going to keep their children alive for another day. It was a medicine to heal an infected wound. It was clothing to keep children warm through the night. And it was a sign that someone, somewhere cared about them.

I couldn’t help but be reminded of Jesus’ words: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

I urge you to join me today in reaching this God-sized task of providing 1 million meals by the end of 2015. You can provide thousands of hungry children with their next meal . . . one that could literally save their lives.

Operation Baby Rescue - World Help

By providing this simple but crucial need, we pave the way for the Gospel . . . for true transformation . . . for hope. And the hope of Jesus Christ can change everything.

Join me in being the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus to the world’s most desperate children.
