God’s Word often reaches people in their darkest moments — even in the middle of war. I recently received an incredible testimony from Ukraine about the power of God’s Word, and I knew it needed to be shared.
Ilya didn’t think about God or where he would go after he died for most of his life. But when the Russian invasion reached Ilya’s home in Ukraine, the possibility of death seemed closer than ever.
As missiles flew over his home, Ilya was plagued with thoughts of dying. Day after day, Ilya struggled with the growing emptiness inside him.
Then, a year into the war, Ilya’s family received supplies they needed thanks to support from the World Help family. And because of our Bibles for All Ambassadors, they also received a Bible.
As soon as Ilya saw the Bible, he knew God meant for him to have it.
Ilya’s life changed when he received his very own Bible!
Ilya had a Bible when he was little, but he struggled to understand it. As he read through the Gospel of Luke as an adult, he understood everything — and began to experience God’s peace.
“As I continued to read the Bible, I noticed significant changes in my life and character,” Ilya said. “Most importantly, I am grateful to God for the peace in my heart.”
Being able to read and study God’s Word has changed Ilya’s life. He’s no longer scared of death because he knows God is always in control.
And that’s not all. Ilya also gave his life to Jesus and recently got baptized!
