Cabin fever? Here’s a safe place to volunteer

“First trip back to a restaurant!” “First post-quarantine haircut!”

You may have noticed from social media, but a lot of people are ready to get out of the house (while safely social distancing, of course!) now that coronavirus restrictions are being lifted.

And one way people are doing that is by spreading as much kindness, love, and goodwill as possible.

Families are making care packages of goodies for health care professionals. Birthday parades with cars, balloons, and colorful signs have become the norm. Maybe someone even paid it forward for you and bought your coffee at your favorite drive-thru.

You can get involved, too!

Right now, the World Help Distribution Center in Lynchburg, Virginia, is overflowing with clothing and other items that have been donated. Now, they just need to be shipped and find a new home with people living in poverty around the world.

If you’re local to the Lynchburg area, we’d love to have you volunteer to come help sort and box up these items to send to families in need.

“Now, more than ever, we need your help,” said Josh Brewer, Director of Humanitarian Aid. “We currently have a warehouse full of product that is sitting idle, waiting to be processed and packaged, which is doing no one any good. We cannot do this without you! Please consider bringing your family and/or friends to join us in tangibly serving so many around the world.”

The coronavirus pandemic has pushed people living in poverty into even more desperate circumstances. With unemployment up worldwide, many families can’t afford basic essentials like clothes and shoes.

That’s why we need your help to get these supplies out the door as soon as possible!

And there is a lot to get out.

Donated items have been pouring in over the past few months despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Even through this crisis, our warehouse went from being empty to nearly full capacity,” Josh said. “We have been blown away by the Lord’s provision during this crisis when we figured it might be a difficult year, given the circumstances.”

The items have been piling up since volunteers weren’t able to come help for two months while Virginia was under lockdown. But now Josh and his team are ready to welcome you and any other volunteers back.

Volunteering is easy. Simply click here and select the day that works best for you.

We are also able to accommodate private groups on nights or weekends if that is more convenient for you. Contact us today and let us know when you would like to volunteer.

And World Help is not only concerned with the well-being of people living in countries like Uganda, Guatemala, and India. But we care about YOU, as well. That’s why our warehouse is taking every measure for keeping volunteers safe and practice safe social distancing.

“We have taken several precautions as recommended by federal, state, and local guidelines, such as, limiting group sizes,” Josh said. “[We’re] providing access to hand sanitizer as needed and positioning workstations six feet or more apart.”

Additionally, no more than 50 people will be allowed in the building at the same time, per Virginia’s Phase 2 guidelines.

Volunteers will have everything they need to safely help change lives. All we ask is that you bring your own mask.

Now is not the time to shrink back from doing good. Now is the time to boldly and safely help as many people as possible. And volunteering at the World Help warehouse is the perfect way for your family, Sunday school class, or coworkers to help make an incredible difference in the world.

Families in need are anxiously awaiting supplies like these to arrive. YOU can help make sure they don’t have to wait one more minute than necessary.

And if you aren’t local or you can’t volunteer, you can still make a difference through your prayers.

“I share all of this to ask for your prayers for our team as we push hard to keep the workflow moving so we can get these critical donations to our partners all around the world,” Josh said.

Thank you for your prayers, your support, and your time! We are so grateful you are part of this community of world changers.
