On the night of Saturday, Aug. 3, the excited cheers from a crowd of baseball fans filled the Bank of James Stadium. The Lynchburg Hillcats had just scored their third run against the Fredericksburg Nationals, securing their victory.

The energy across the stadium ran high as the Hillcats and their fans celebrated the win … and the night still wasn’t over.

After the game concluded, the night sky lit up as spectators enjoyed a spectacular fireworks show. A little rain couldn’t keep the festivities at bay! The Hillcats also hosted a special First Responders Appreciation display.

As exhilarating as the Saturday night game was, its impact extended beyond the Hillcats’ victory and fireworks show. That’s because the Hillcats teamed up with World Help through their Community Champion Program for the second annual World Help Night at the ballpark.

World Help at the ballpark was a great night of enjoying baseball and transforming lives!

The game was a chance for the Lynchburg community to provide help and hope worldwide while enjoying a memorable night out.

Half of all ticket sales purchased through World Help went to help people who needed it most. This baseball game didn’t just create fun memories for everyone who attended — it also allowed them to transform lives around the globe!

Because of the Lynchburg community’s support, people in need around the world will receive essentials like food, clean water, God’s Word, and more!

In addition to the many families and friends who attended the game, a large group from Mountain View Church in Forest, VA, came to show their support! World Help staff also came out to enjoy the game and get to know members of the community, including Annie Lambert, our Print & Visual Supervisor.

“It has been such a great pleasure to be here at the Lynchburg Hillcats game tonight,” she said during the event. “We met so many members of the community. Educating them about what World Help does around the world has been a privilege.”

Spectators also stopped by the World Help booth to check out merch and learn more about making an impact around the world.

“Through this, we were able to connect with the community more,” said Kelley Heelan, World Help’s Community Engagement Coordinator. “We enjoy being able to show up to community events like this because it gives us an option to meet people … to let them know what we do and who we are.”
