Maurine is an outgoing, helpful girl. She enjoys attending school, especially when she gets to read and write in her language class. After school, she likes to play volleyball or help her mother around the house. When Maurine grows up, she wants to protect her community as a police officer.
Maurine lives with a loving family, but they constantly struggle to make ends meet. Her father is a carpenter, and her mother watches the children and works odd jobs to help meet their family’s basic needs. Despite these efforts, their income is not enough.

Why sponsor a child?
“Child sponsorship is very rewarding because you know you're making a difference for that child. But the blessing you will receive far surpasses even the difference you make in the children's lives. You will see God at work!”
— Lita, Kentucky
“Sponsoring two little girls from Guatemala has changed the way I see life. As Christ-followers, we are called to love God and love others. I believe that we love God through loving others, and child sponsorship gives us the opportunity to do that.”
— Kayla, Virginia
“I believe child sponsorship is a way to touch the future. It's important to invest in the next generation, both here and around the world.”
— Margaret, California
