Children Massacred in Syria

Vernon Brewer
May 30, 2012

The nation of Syria is on the verge of complete collapse. Violence is erupting everywhere, and people are fleeing for their very lives. Thousands have died running or hiding, proving that this brutality has no goal other than to terrorize innocent people . . . even little children.

The U.N. estimates that 9,000 civilians have perished since March 2011. The country is left without any hope for the dark days ahead. Children have become orphans with nowhere else to turn. They need our help now.

It all started nearly 15 months ago when a surge of Arab unrest originating with the Tunisian revolution hit Syria full-force. Protestors took to the streets after several Syrian students were tortured for anti-government activity. The Syrian government responded with a brutal crackdown, creating a wave of further demonstrations along with unspeakable acts of violence.

Only days ago, one of these gruesome attacks happened in the Syrian township of Houla. Over 100 people were brutally massacred, many in their own homes. Nearly half of the victims were innocent children! An elderly woman who was in her home during the attacks said this in an interview:

. . . I heard several gunshots. I was so terrified I couldn’t stand on my legs. I heard the soldiers leaving. I looked outside the room and saw all of my family members shot. They were shot in their bodies and their head.

Can you even begin to imagine? Your family brutally murdered in your own home . . . your life ripped apart in an instant?

At this very moment, there are 500,000 internally displaced men, women, and children in Syria. The unrest has caused thousands more to flee to the neighboring countries of Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon, and Iraq.

They have nothing—no food, no water, no home, no hope. We must respond, and we must do it now!

World Help is strategically positioned to distribute life-saving supplies for both internally displaced Syrians as well as the desperate influx of refugees to Jordan. Aid supplies will include food, medical supplies, hygiene items, blankets, and much more.

These provisions will literally be the difference between life and death for thousands of people fleeing for their lives and for orphans desperately trying just to survive.

Right now, you and I have to make a decision: We can choose to be indifferent, or we can choose to be the difference. No matter what the situation is politically, these people are our neighbors . . . our brothers and sisters on the other side of the world . . . and we can’t let them down.

We can’t delay any longer. Please send your gift of any amount today, so we can get this life-saving aid on the ground and into the hands of the Syrian people. Don’t hold back. Be generous. Give sacrificially for the sake of those who will never be able to repay you but will experience life-changing hope because you chose to act.

Join me now. Give today.
