Brazil

Brazil is the largest country in South America and the fifth largest country in the world. Its sprawling urban centers also house some of the densest slums known to man. Currently, more than 11 million people live in these areas, known as favelas.

Income inequality, homelessness, and criminal activity continue to plague society. Public education offered to low-income families is poor quality … and private school is largely out of reach. Parents often struggle to afford necessities like school uniforms, books, and supplies for their children to go to school. Many boys and girls drop out at a young age to work and support their families.
