For decades, Colombia has been plagued by internal conflict and violence — primarily caused by the drug trade. On top of these challenges, the country also struggles to care for the huge amount of refugees coming in from Venezuela.

Officials estimate that there are over 2.9 million Venezuelans in Colombia … many of whom arrived with few or no belongings. They struggle to find stable jobs and are often subjected to abuse and exploitation. Women and children, in particular, are at risk of human trafficking, sexual violence, and gang recruitment.
