Ethiopia’s population is rapidly growing, severely straining its already scarce resources. Contaminated water sources, widespread malnutrition, and easily preventable diseases are ravaging the country.
Although the education system is slowly improving, over half of Ethiopians remain illiterate. Lack of education means many girls are forced into early marriages, resulting in pregnancies. And because Ethiopia is severely lacking in maternal healthcare, many of these women will not only lose their babies but suffer demoralizing health issues like obstetric fistula.
