Haiti is in desperate need of long-term redevelopment support. After a decades-long dictatorship and the devastating earthquake in 2010 that killed over 200,000 people, the country is in ruins. Ever since the assassination of the president in 2021, Haiti has been on an even more intense downward spiral. Over 200 gangs currently operate in Haiti, and they currently control most of the country.
Today, Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere. Two out of three adults live on less than $2 per day, even as the price of basic goods skyrockets. Parents struggle to put food on the table for their children … and over 100,000 kids under 5 suffer from extreme malnutrition. The risk of contracting waterborne illnesses remains high, and the HIV/AIDS outbreak left thousands of children orphaned.
