Poland is home to the largest number of Ukrainian refugees in Europe, and 90 percent of these refugees are women and children. Most of them arrived in Poland with nothing but what they could carry.
As the price of essentials continues to rise, families struggle to afford supplies like food, clean water, clothing, and medical care. Refugees who had savings are now running out, putting them in even greater need than they were at the start of the war with Russia. Many refugees are also struggling to heal from the trauma caused by the war, loss and extended separation from loved ones, and the constant uncertainty about whether they’ll ever be able to go home.
