After decades of militant rule, recent reforms have improved Togo’s government and economy. Even so, the country still faces a high poverty rate and severe food insecurity.

Over 40 percent of the population doesn’t have enough to eat. High unemployment rates and growing conflicts are only worsening the situation. Plus, countless people lack access to medical care, putting men, women, and children at high risk of preventable diseases like typhoid, malaria, and dengue fever.
