We like to keep you updated about what your sponsored child and other kids in the program have been up to over the past year… all because of your compassionate giving. And even though the world is a little different now because of the coronavirus, we were able to get this report of how your child has been doing since the fall and knew you would want to hear it.

Autumn festivities

The highlight of October was the annual Fall Ball. The children enjoyed getting dressed up for the event, where they made crafts with colorful fall leaves and vegetables. They also had the chance to sing lots of songs and dance with their friends.

One of the most exciting parts of the Fall Ball was when all of the children divided up into teams to play games. They not only loved playing together, but it was a time for each group to learn valuable lessons in teamwork, as well. At the end, each team got to keep a board game or table game of their own as a special gift.

Encouraging creativity

In November, your sponsored child participated in the first ever Kind Heart Fair at the boarding school. This event was an opportunity for your child and the other kids to express their creativity and show it off to others.

The children had been learning different craft mediums and saving up their creations for this special occasion. Some of their homemade crafts included crocheted bags and gloves, woven potholders, handcrafted socks, and felt decorations. After placing the crafts on display, they invited guests to come and purchase the items. All the money raised during the fair went toward the children’s needs at the school.

A festive holiday season

The celebrations continued in December with a combined Christmas and New Year’s party. The children dressed up in all sorts of costumes, from animals to healthcare professionals, to help perform a holiday skit. They enjoyed singing, dancing, and putting on a performance with their friends.

There were also plenty of yummy snacks for the children to enjoy. But, of course, their favorite part of the party was receiving their Christmas presents! Each child received a bag filled with small toys and other treats. They were so excited and thankful when they were handed the colorfully wrapped gifts.

Coronavirus update

In addition to making holidays and other events extra special, your continued support also encourages your sponsored child during difficult times like the coronavirus outbreak the world is now facing.

All of the children are safe, but they are now doing their schooling online instead of meeting at the boarding school. The country’s state of emergency and social distancing guidelines have been extended until at least May 1. Please continue to keep your sponsored child in your prayers during this time.
