We like to keep you updated about what your sponsored child and other kids in the program have been up to over the past year… all because of your compassionate giving. And even though the world is a little different now than it was a few weeks ago because of the coronavirus, we were able to get this report of how your child has been doing since New Year’s and knew you would want to hear it.

New Year’s celebration

Your sponsored child celebrated New Year’s in a big way. The kids in the sponsorship program attended the theater to see a special show, and then they returned to the children’s home for a New Year’s party. They ate delicious food, and each child received some sweets as a gift.

Since 2020 is considered the year of the rat in Asian culture, several of the younger boys and girls dressed in rat costumes for the party. The rest of the kids wore colorful, traditional outfits that they showed off while performing songs and dances for the staff.

Writing letters and learning

All of the children in the sponsorship program love receiving letters from their sponsors. They love sending letters, too! The staff at the children’s home say the kids are very interested in writing at the moment, so now is the perfect time to send a note to your sponsored child. Perhaps you’ll get one back!

Learning to communicate well through words and though art is an important part of the children’s education. They also learn English and participate in several extracurricular activities such as music, crafts, and sports to make sure that each boy and girl grows up to become a healthy, well-rounded person.

Coronavirus update

In addition to making New Year’s and other events extra special, your continued support also encourages your sponsored child during difficult times like the coronavirus outbreak the world is now facing.

All of the children are safe, but the children’s home is currently quarantined, so only the staff and kids that live there are allowed inside. In fact, almost all the cities in Kazakhstan are under quarantine. Please continue to keep your sponsored child in your prayers during this time.
