Eternal Hope Reaches Refugees in Berea: 2,000 Years Later

Apr 07, 2016

Almost 2,000 years ago, Paul, Silas, and Timothy traveled to the Greek city of Berea to share the life-changing message of the Gospel.

Though only a small community tucked away in the mountainside, the apostles considered these men, women, and children worthy of their journey.

And today, you are doing the same.

Through your compassion and ongoing support, relief is taking place in the very city of Berea (now called Veria), providing life-saving aid and the message of the Gospel to deeply hurting refugees.

Your efforts in Veria are especially critical! At present, World Help is the only relief organization permitted to distribute aid in the camp.  This means that for these traumatized and abandoned refugees, your faithful support is their sole source of healing and hope.

This week, our partners reported that the need for medicine in Veria is growing rapidly. While the nation of Greece is bearing the weight of an economic crisis of its own, local physicians are unable to meet the medical needs of countless refugees now at their mercy.

And it’s children who are fairing the worst. Common illnesses are turning to death sentences without access to basic medicines and antibiotics . . . and these families have nowhere to turn.

Today, you can save these invaluable lives . . . you can share the Gospel message in a deeply powerful way.

Your support will provide:

  • Life-saving medicine
  • Nutritious meals
  • Durable clothing and blankets
  • Clean water
  • Other critical relief supplies
  • A copy of the New Testament in each refugee’s language

Much of the world has turned away from this crisis, giving into lies that lead to hopelessness. But you have not given up on these men, women, and children in excruciating need. You are standing firmly in the gap—as the hands and feet of Jesus—when much of the rest of the world has turned its back.

Thank you for believing with us that every life matters.

Thank you for continuing in the work the apostles started 2,000 years ago . . .
