Hurricane Irma, one of the most ferocious Atlantic hurricanes in recorded history, has passed, causing indescribable damage and leaving those in its path to pick up the pieces.
Houses, businesses, and schools have collapsed, taking away people’s livelihoods along with their shelter and worldly possessions. Resources are few, making the rebuilding effort daunting. As usual, the poorest residents of the affected areas were most vulnerable to the storm and its aftermath. So many have lost everything, and the need is urgent — they need your help now!
Inconceivably, another powerful storm, Hurricane Maria, is bearing down on the same region, threatening further destruction in hard-hit places like Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. We cannot ignore the human suffering caused by these storms. We have the opportunity today to remind them that God is with them and to demonstrate the love of Christ with our giving.
Urgently Needed—Food and Water
The real need right now is food and safe drinking water. Key agricultural crops have been damaged as have stored food supplies. With the local utility infrastructure in ruins, there is no electricity, access to clean water or basic sanitation.
Our partners are on the ground right now distributing food, water and other emergency supplies to residents in the worst affected areas. But the scale of the devastation is unprecedented as is the need for lifesaving relief.
You can bring help and hope to people who are in dire need. Please give now!
For just $50, you can send much needed food, water and aid to the people most affected by Irma.
