Food.
One of the greatest needs in Afghanistan since the Taliban’s takeover in 2021 is food.
Our partner on the ground recently reported that over 50% of the population suffers from high levels of hunger and malnutrition. A staggering 44% of children under 5 are experiencing stunted growth because they don’t have access to nutritious food.
The situation is dire, but thankfully, the World Help family is working in Afghanistan and recently provided lifesaving supplies to people when they needed them most. Our incredible supporters gave parents like Jamila emergency food and other essentials for their children.
People like Jamila are struggling to survive without essentials
Jamila — whose name has been changed to protect her — struggled to provide her children with basic necessities.
Jamila’s husband suffers from a chronic illness that prevents him from holding a steady job. And ever since the Taliban’s rise to power, the cost of food and other goods in Afghanistan has skyrocketed.
It’s nearly impossible for her to make ends meet with her husband’s inconsistent income, and the Taliban’s restriction of women’s rights leaves Jamila unable to find a job of her own.
To make matters worse, her son recently got into a car accident. Now, Jamila must use the majority of her husband’s income to pay her son’s medical bills … instead of putting food on the table.
For weeks, Jamila’s family only ate small amounts of bread along with tea. She feared that her children would starve to death — until world changers like you stepped in with emergency food and other critical aid!
“We are very thankful for the help,” Jamila said. “We hope this humanitarian aid continues in the future. Thank you!”
The World Help family provided lifesaving supplies in Afghanistan and worldwide!
And Jamila wasn’t the only one who received physical and spiritual aid lately! In just one month, the World Help family also:
— Shipped two containers filled with over $1 million worth of supplies overseas
— Completed a water project in El Salvador to give 1,000 people access to clean water
— Provided hot meals to thousands of civilian families in Gaza
— Built a new home for a family in Honduras
— And so much more!
Thank you to everyone who played a role in being a lifeline for people like Jamila worldwide.
