Child sponsorship is an important part of World Help’s mission to spread help and hope worldwide. But this mission wouldn’t be possible without our incredible child sponsors who dedicate themselves to helping children in need — children like Justin.
Let me tell you about Justin, a young man living in Uganda.
By the time he was 13 years old, Justin had already suffered a lifetime of hardship. During his early childhood, the Lord’s Resistance Army was still ravaging Uganda, terrorizing villages and inflicting violence on almost everyone in their path.

Because of the war, Justin lived in an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp. His family constantly struggled to afford food, clothing, medical supplies, and other basic necessities.
Determined to earn an education, Justin walked almost five miles daily to attend school. But that wasn’t the only challenge he faced — he also lacked school supplies and was exhausted by the time he returned to the camp each day.
“I was studying in a deep, remote school where I had to cover a distance of eight kilometers per day on my way to and from the school,” he said.
And to make matters worse, Justin had a serious health condition. Despite their best efforts, his family couldn’t afford the treatment, and he often suffered from stomach pain.
As he endured one hardship after another, Justin became depressed and began to lose hope for the future.
But that’s when our incredible child sponsors stepped in!
Child sponsorship gave Justin hope for a brighter future!
When he was 13, Justin discovered a World Help-supported child sponsorship program in Uganda that had been founded specifically to help children and families exploited and left homeless by the LRA.
After Justin enrolled in the sponsorship program, he received daily meals, an education, and much-needed medical care. Plus, he heard about Jesus Christ and accepted Him as his Savior! For the first time in his life, Justin had joy, peace, and hope for a bright future.
Now a young man, Justin has earned a certificate in Records and Information Management and is employed helping others in need. He also serves as a pastor at his local church.
Because of sponsorship, Justin was able to achieve his dreams!
“I have learned to forgive in my life, and it has built me to become a young man who teaches the Word of God,” Justin said. “Truly, my life is a living testimony.”
Justin now helps other children pursue their dreams and points them to God
This wouldn’t have been possible without our generous child sponsors. Sponsorship allowed Justin to get an education and pursue his dream of helping others. Plus, he learned how much Jesus loves Him and is now passionate about making sure more people hear the Good News.
