I’ve always known that one Bible can impact many lives — and I recently heard an incredible testimony about a woman from Iran that reminded me of how powerful God’s Word really is.
Kira stumbled across an illegal Bible in Iran, started reading, and her life was completely changed. Then, thousands more were changed, too.
Let me tell you her story …
Iran is the ninth most dangerous country in the world to follow Christ
Kira, whose name I changed to protect her, used to be a housekeeper. Over 15 years ago, when working in a private home, she stumbled across a little red book on the shelf.
It was a copy of the New Testament.
She had heard rumors about the notorious “Injil” — the Arabic word for Gospel — but she’d never seen a copy of Scripture herself. Intrigued, she quietly slipped it into her bag and continued to clean.
When Kira went home that night, she read through the New Testament. She felt the Lord move in her heart, but she didn’t know any other Christians she could reach out to and learn from. Over time, her interest in God faded.
As she continued to struggle to provide for her family, Kira turned to drugs to relieve the pressure. She was addicted … until her daughter received a cancer diagnosis five years ago.
Remembering the Scriptures she had read, Kira fell to her knees and prayed, “Jesus, if I give up drugs, will you heal my daughter?”
Shortly after, Kira’s relative reached out to offer support as Kira’s daughter underwent treatment. She discovered Kira’s lukewarm interest in the Gospel and revealed that she was a Christian.
Having a Bible in their native language helps believers like Kira grow in their faith
She guided Kira to fully put her faith and trust in the Lord, which completely transformed her life. It took some time, but she eventually found freedom from her addiction. She also found fellowship among other Christian women and celebrated her daughter’s full recovery.
Unfortunately, in 2022, Kira’s daughter died during a protest on the streets. Kira was devasted by the loss of her child, but instead of turning to drugs again, she leaned on the Lord.
Today, Kira is a joyful, warm-hearted woman who shares her testimony with fellow Iranians to show God’s love, compassion, and mercy in her life.
But that’s not all. Kira also distributes Bibles to other people seeking the Lord.
During the Persian New Year, Kira and other members of the underground church distributed thousands of copies of Scripture! Many of the Bibles they gave away were supplied by World Help’s Bibles for All Ambassadors — people who donate every month to provide copies of God’s Word worldwide.
And since Bibles are often shared with family and friends, these Bibles will impact tens of thousands of people!
If you are a Bibles for All Ambassador, I want to thank you for the huge part you played in distributing these Bibles to new believers in Iran. The Bibles you gave have already transformed lives just like Kira’s, and you have truly made an impact that will outlive you and last for eternity.
