On the ground in Puerto Rico

It’s been five months since Hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated the island province of Puerto Rico. The world watched, eyes glued to their screens as footage of flooded streets cycled on every news channel.

When I saw the news and heard the stories of destruction, I knew I needed to go and see for myself. I needed to check on our brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico.

Our partners on the ground told me that the last five months have been an ongoing struggle to survive and to rebuild. They pointed out buildings whose roofs had been blown off and recalled how the water had risen up to 13 feet in some places — reaching the balconies of two-story houses!

For a time, the entire island lost power. We watched as electrical crews worked to repair power lines, but many communities are still without electricity.

When devastation comes in the form of a hurricane or an earthquake or a brutal war, it affects everyone. It impacts the wealthy and the poor, the educated and the uneducated, the old and the young.

In their darkest moment, you can provide emergency aid to someone in need for just $30. Your gift could help rescue a life!

For people suffering from crises around the world, the road to recovery is a long and difficult one … and they often feel forgotten.

The news is no longer covering the need here in Puerto Rico. The world is no longer watching, and people feel hopeless.

You can come alongside them — and other hurting people around the globe — to help in their greatest moments of need.

For just $30, you can provide physical, lifesaving help and spiritual hope to someone in need.

Right now, people in countries all over the world are experiencing natural disasters and violent wars. They suffer in silence. But when you give, you provide hope reminding them they are not alone.

Give today, and rescue someone in desperate need!
