Our incredible volunteers did it again!
Through their hard work and dedication, another container was shipped from our Humanitarian Aid Distribution Center — this time to Burundi.
Volunteers spent hours sorting and packing life-changing aid like clothing, shoes, and more … which made a HUGE impact throughout the whole country. And while each gift helped meet an urgent need, the clothing also opened the door to share the Gospel. That means that some of the most vulnerable people in Burundi received physical and spiritual aid!
Every $1 you give to cover shipping costs sends $16 worth of aid to families like this!
Our partner on the ground divided the clothing into two categories. First, these items were separated by climate. That way, people living in cold regions received jackets while those in warm areas got t-shirts. Then, they divided it by who would receive the clothing.
Two facilities in particular were significantly impacted by the clothing our volunteers helped ship:
Bringing Hope to Women in Prison
Many prisons in Burundi are overcrowded and lack funding. Prisoners are required to bring in their own clothing … most of which is in tatters, doing little to nothing to keep people warm or comfortable.
Our partner distributed clothing and shoes to over 1,000 people at one of the largest prisons in Burundi.
But that’s not even the best part. They also had the opportunity to share the Gospel, and over 70 prisoners committed their lives to Christ!
While receiving clothing for herself and her children, one woman said, “It is the Lord that sent you during this Christmas season. I did not expect anyone to come see me these days, let alone think of giving me such a beautiful gift. May God bless you.”
Bringing Joy to Teenagers in Need
Meeting someone’s physical needs helps them experience God’s love
Our partner also visited a center serving vulnerable teenagers. They spent the day pouring into them by sharing stories about God’s love and encouraging them.
Then, thanks to our volunteers, they were able to give these teens a tangible example of God’s love by distributing new sportswear.
The joy in the room was palpable as they quickly put on their new clothes. One of the staff members shared that sports are one of the only things the teens look forward to. They were so grateful and felt so loved!
