We like to keep you updated about what your sponsored child and other kids in the program have been up to over the past year… all because of your compassionate giving. And even though the world is a little different now than it was a few weeks ago because of the coronavirus, we were able to get this report of how your child has been doing since Christmas and knew you would want to hear it.

A Christmas packed with fun

Your sponsored child had a wonderful time during the holiday season. The children’s center hosted a combined Christmas and New Year’s program for all of the kids as well as their families. Since the families live in slum communities, they are hardly ever able to have parties and celebrations like this, so it was a special treat!

The children loved the balloons and all the decorations. Several of them performed songs and dances, and they all enjoyed the tasty party treats. Of course, one of the biggest highlights of the night was when the children received their gifts and awards for a job well done over the past year.

Learning and growing each day

The kids have been learning so much lately. In addition to receiving academic tutoring at the center, they are also learning new songs and how to express themselves creatively through art. Your sponsored child recently heard the “Parable of the Sower,” and several of the kids had a chance to practice their public speaking skills by giving speeches at the holiday party about the other stories and lessons they had been hearing about.

Many of these children’s parents have very little education themselves, which is why they now struggle to find consistent jobs. They are so grateful for the opportunities their children have through sponsorship. Because of you, your sponsored child will a chance at a better life.

Changes because of the coronavirus

Your continued support means so much to your sponsored child this difficult and uncertain time caused by the coronavirus. All of the boys and girls are safe have not been directly affected by the virus. However, because of the lockdown, they are no longer able to meet together at the children’s center. Our partners are still regularly checking in on them at home, though, and dropping off food. Please continue to keep your sponsored child in your prayers.
