We want to let you know what your sponsored child and other kids in the program have been up to over the past year … all because of your compassionate giving.

A day of celebration

Summer was an exciting time for your sponsored child. On July 19, the school pulled out all the stops for the national holiday honoring Lempira, a revered war chieftain who fought to defend Honduras against invading Spanish conquistadors during the 1530s. The children celebrated with a giant fair. Each class created a mural representing a specific area of Honduras and prepared a tasty dish for everyone to sample.

Tables were spread with regional cuisine — from fried plantains to savory tamales. Splashes of red and yellow filled the school as many children enjoyed wearing traditional costumes. Not only was it a time of food and games, but it was also a chance for the students to learn more about the history and customs of their country. Your support allows your sponsored child to participate in these fun and educational activities.

Field trip time

Traveling outside their community is a special and rare treat for the children in the sponsorship program … one that they always look forward to. This September, your sponsored child had the opportunity to visit the Chiminike Museum, a learning center full of interactive science and history exhibits.

The students went on a guided tour that reinforced many of the concepts they were learning in the classroom — from lessons about energy to the human body. They loved discovering things firsthand through each exhibit. These experiences would not be possible without you. Your child is learning, growing, and becoming equipped for a better life because you choose to give.

A busy December

Last month was packed with special events for your sponsored child. Since the school year in Honduras ends with the calendar year, there were many graduations to celebrate, from kindergarten to college! Moments like those are testaments to your faithful giving. Without your support, these children wouldn’t have the opportunity to receive a quality education. The school also hosted a Christmas party where your sponsored child enjoyed delicious food and a fun-filled day with other classmates.

Meeting everyday needs

Each staff member at the school is fully committed to your child’s well-being. Even after regular hours, they are reaching out and making sure their students are taken care of — both physically and spiritually. If a student is missing classes, a staff member will pay that child a visit. If there are difficulties at home, they check in on the family as often as possible.

And the staff never arrives empty-handed. Whenever they go on one of these visits, they bring food and share a devotional with the family. It’s a sweet time of encouragement and another example of the many ways your sponsorship provides for your child.
