Take a turkey break and transform twice as many lives

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year. I love spending time with my family, eating a delicious meal, and celebrating all we’ve had to be thankful for over the past year. We are truly blessed.

But one of my favorite ways to express my gratitude is by being a blessing to those in need. Whether you volunteer locally or donate toward people in need around the world, Thanksgiving is a great day to share what you have with others.

And right now, some of the people who need your help the most are refugees.

Many families worldwide have been displaced for years now, and the new wave of violence in northern Syria is driving more people from their homes by the day.

When I think about this holiday, I think about family, home, and all of the things that make life so rich. None of our lives are perfect … far from it. But when I think about the people I’ve met on the Syrian border and in refugee camps around the world, I know how much worse things can be.

As you and I gather with our friends and family, Abdi is spending yet another day without his cousins, uncles, and other family members who were killed in Syria. I’ve changed his name for his own safety.

Although Abdi was able to make it out alive, many were not so lucky. A total of 70 of his extended family members were killed as forces annihilated entire villages, particularly targeting the men. Abdi misses them terribly. And he misses his home. But most of all, he worries about the future.

You see, Abdi’s wife is very sick with severe asthma. She needs medical treatment — treatment he can’t afford or even access. Abdi suffers from many health problems himself including a heart condition, so he can’t work to support the family. And these days, they know far too well the feeling of hunger.

This Thanksgiving, Abdi doesn’t have much to be thankful for. And he’s not the only one. But you can help change that!

All it takes is $35 to provide a refugee with $189 worth of food, medical care, blankets, warm clothing, and more. And if you give today, your gift will DOUBLE up to $80,000 thanks to a matching gift meaning you’ll make 2X the impact!

For just $35, you can help not one, but TWO refugees. Your gift will meet desperate physical needs while also providing much needed hope and joy that will sustain someone like Abdi for months to come.

This Thanksgiving, share your blessings and give someone else something to be grateful for.
