Did you know women in Thailand and India are expected to be the breadwinners for their families?
Unfortunately, families from impoverished communities simply can’t afford to send their daughters to school. Without an education, many young women feel like they have no choice but to enter the sex industry to provide for their loved ones.
But there is hope.
Through our partner’s Baking School in Thailand, women are finding a new path in life — one filled with dignity, purpose, and the love of Christ.
Learn how this life-changing program is making an eternal impact on women and their families in Thailand:
The Thailand Baking School
Women attending the Thailand Baking School receive the skills and resources they need to pursue a brighter future
In 2019, the World Help family funded the construction of the Thailand Baking School — a safe, empowering space designed to help women escape the sex industry.
Through this outreach program, women are invited to come and receive professional training in baking and cooking.
When they arrive, they’re welcomed with a hot meal and provided with a stipend to help cover transportation costs and support their families while they attend the school. This immediate help allows them to attend classes without the pressure of returning to work in the bars.
As they learn new recipes and techniques, the women also begin to form strong bonds with each other, connecting over shared experiences and common interests. These friendships become a foundation for healing as they support one another in overcoming the trauma and abuse of their past.
By the end of the program, women like Supa are equipped with the skills and confidence to launch their own baking businesses, allowing them to begin a new, dignifying career.
Supa’s Testimony
Countless women like Supa in Thailand are trapped in sexual slavery
As a child, Supa never imagined her life would lead to the sex industry. But poverty left her with few choices. Desperate to provide for her family, she took the only job available — selling her body.
As the years passed, Supa began having her children of her own. The weight of responsibility grew heavier, and without a formal education or job training, she felt trapped in the sex industry. There seemed to be no other way to support the people who depended on her.
But everything changed when Supa discovered the Baking School. There, she learned how to cook delicious recipes and found a supportive community of women who were also working towards freedom.
With every class, Supa’s confidence grew. She refined her baking skills, formed lasting friendships, and began to believe a different future was actually possible. Most importantly, she was introduced to the love and compassion of Jesus Christ.
After graduating, Supa was able to leave the sex industry behind. She now runs her own small business selling chiffon cakes, cookies, and other homemade treats.
“[Supa] has proven that no matter how old we are or what our experiences are, we can change our lives and create a new future,” our partner said.
