World AIDS Day

Today, 34 million people in our world are HIV positive.

Although this devastating disease affects people on every continent, those in sub-Saharan Africa are suffering the most: 1 in 20 adults here are HIV positive, making up a staggering 69 percent of the global total.

In many ways, AIDS is the biggest perpetrator in the ongoing cycle of poverty. It limits food production, cripples education, and destroys families.

Globally, there are 16.6 million children who have been orphaned because of AIDS.

Sponsored Children in UgandaWhile significant progress has been made in AIDS treatment and research, the availability of lifesaving, anti-retroviral medicine is limited, and the children who have lost their parents continue to struggle for survival.

World Help is committed to reaching children affected by AIDS and has led the way over the past few years through several incredible initiatives. Our Children of the World International Children’s Choir advocated the cause of AIDS orphans across the country through the 2007-2009 Children of Hope tour, raising millions of dollars to benefit countless young lives. (You can order a free copy of Children of Hope by Vernon Brewer and Noel Brewer Yeatts to learn more about our work and the AIDS crisis.)

Together, we’ve been able to build dozens of homes, and even entire communities, specifically for children who have been orphaned by AIDS. These “Homes of Hope” and “Villages of Hope” are providing lifesaving help for today and hope for tomorrow to thousands of children. Through our Child Sponsorship Program, they are receiving the care and love they so desperately need . . . having food to eat, clean water to drink, educational opportunities, medical care, and the chance to grow and develop spiritually.

But as this deadly epidemic continues to spread, the need for caring and committed sponsors grows every day. Today, we need your help to continue providing for children affected by HIV/AIDS.

It only takes $35 a month to support a child affected by HIV/AIDS . . . but the change it creates is truly transformational. By choosing to be a sponsor, you will be investing in the future of a child—the next generation of teachers, doctors, parents, and leaders. Sponsorship lifts children out of poverty and offers a home where they are valued, loved, and equipped with the resources to succeed as adults. The potential of these children is tremendous! You can also provide a one-time gift to unsponsored children, many of whom are affected by HIV/AIDS, by giving toward our designated fund.

Please don’t miss this remarkable opportunity to change a life forever.

Join us today in making an eternal difference in the life of a child affected by HIV/AIDS. There’s no better time than now.
