There is nothing I love more than hearing stories about the next generation coming to Christ.
Just recently, our partner in Ukraine told me the story of 8-year-old Danil, who first heard the Gospel in an unexpected place — an English class.
Danil is one of the 3.7 million people who are internally displaced in Ukraine
When Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Danil and his family lived close to the front line.
They watched as missile attacks destroyed the city and around them. Countless innocent people lost their lives. Hoping to keep him safe, Danil’s parents made the difficult decision to send him to live with his grandmother in the countryside.
Since then, Danil, along with 60,000 other Ukrainian children, has yet to return to school.
But Danil’s grandmother knew that education played a crucial part in her grandson’s development. She began searching for new learning opportunities for Danil until he could go back to school full-time.
Six months ago, Danil’s grandmother found our partner’s English class. Excited to get his education back on track, she enrolled him. And while Danil was there to learn English, his teachers also shared the Gospel! They told Danil about the comfort and protection that he could find in our Heavenly Father.
After hearing the Good News, Danil was full of questions. He wanted to learn more about Jesus, and our partner had just the thing to help … one of the Bibles our Bibles for All Ambassadors provided.
Now, Danil regularly reads God’s Word and shares what he learns with his grandmother.
