A Christmas prayer for your sponsored child

Christmas is just a few days away!

Most likely, you’ve got plans to spend this week with your family, friends, and the people who mean the most to you. But there’s probably one boy or girl you won’t be able to celebrate in person with that you wish you could — your sponsored child.

Even though you and your sponsored child may live thousands of miles apart, you can still connect with them in a powerful way through prayer.

Here’s one example of a special Christmas prayer you and your family can pray for your sponsored child this week. Just put your child’s name in the blanks to make it personal to him or her.

Dear God,

Thank You for ________ and the opportunity to sponsor him/her. Thank You for putting him/her in a sponsorship program where he/she gets to experience Your love from caring teachers and mentors.

I pray that as we celebrate Jesus’ birth this week, You will give ________ an extra special Christmas. Help him/her to truly understand the meaning of the holiday and to feel Your presence.

If ________ doesn’t already know You as his/her personal Savior, I pray You will use this season to speak to his/her heart and draw him/her to You.

Please keep ________ safe this week. Give him/her a restful Christmas break from school and help him/her to return to class rejuvenated and ready to learn.

Surround ________ with loving family or friends this Christmas and remind him/her how much I love him/her too.

Help me to never take my own material blessings for granted and to always be looking for ways to share those blessings with ________ and others.
