It’s no secret that the World Help family is committed to providing help and hope around the globe. Last year alone, world changers like you helped transformed 2,803,985 lives!
But that number is just, well … a number. Behind it are real people, each with their own unique name and story. Today, I want to introduce you to one of these special people — Abel.
Abel is a 10-year-old boy from Guatemala. And his life completely changed when he received one simple thing most of us would take for granted: a pillow.
A simple pillow may not seem like much … but it can be life-changing for someone like Abel
When Abel first received the pillow, his family was in awe that someone had thought to send them such a wonderful gift. For them, a pillow is a luxury that no one in the family has ever been able to afford.
At first, Abel stood there in shock. He just couldn’t believe that he had his very own pillow!
“I’ve never had one, much less one so big,” Abel said.
Once he recovered from the surprise, Abel immediately went to lie down on his bed, which was nothing more than a few pieces of plywood pushed together and covered with burlap.
And even though his bed was uncomfortable, Abel couldn’t wait to sleep that night. He knew he would rest better than he ever had before with his new pillow.
And now, with the help of generous donors like you, our partner in Guatemala is working on getting Abel’s entire family new beds, too!
Can you imagine what it would be like to never get a good night’s sleep before going to work? Before heading off to school or taking care of your children?
That used to be the reality for Abel and his family, but now they can get the rest they need! Something as simple as a pillow is enough to start paving the way toward a brighter, healthier future and open the door to show a family God’s love in so many other ways.

I love seeing the big-picture impact that the World Help family is making worldwide. But sometimes, it’s even more special to zoom in and focus on individual stories like this one.
