Christmas in India 2012

Children's Program Update

India India

Our Child Sponsorship Programs throughout the country serve as a safe refuge for thousands of Indian children, providing help for today and hope for tomorrow. By receiving basic necessities, a quality education, and nurturing care, they are given an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty they were born into.

These children are shown compassionate love on a daily basis through their individual sponsorship programs. And with your participation in the 2012 Child Sponsorship Christmas Campaign, each child experienced an unforgettable Christmas celebration as well!

They enjoyed a special meal together on Christmas full of many delicious foods such as rice, vegetables, exotic fruits, and sweets. Some even gathered around a bonfire after their meal to sing some of their favorite Christmas carols.

All of our sponsorship programs throughout India held similar Christmas celebrations allowing the children the opportunity to participate in skits, dancing, and singing songs.

Some of the children also performed in dramas where they dressed in costumes to reenact the Christmas story for their entire communities! Friends, families, and neighbors were all invited to attend, and many of the shows even served as an outreach to the surrounding communities—sharing the love of Christ through the story of Christ’s birth.

Our partners shared that numerous Hindu communities were touched by the Gospel this Christmas through the children’s creative performances, and God moved mightily in their individual lives!

One highlight of the celebration was when each of the children received personal Christmas gifts. For some, it was the first gift they had ever received! The children opened their packages with great urgency and excitement to find various items such as new clothes, crafts, shoes, books, toys, blankets, and scarves.

In December, many of the children were just finishing up extensive exams, so these unique Christmas activities were the perfect break from their studies and a wonderful reward for how hard they had worked.

Thanks to faithful sponsors, like you, our sponsored children in India participated in festive Christmas events and enjoyed a celebration that they will remember for years to come.

Through your letters and these Christmas gifts, each child was reminded that their sponsors truly care about them. Thank you for your dedicated commitment to our sponsored children in India.
