Fallujah Relief Update
Thank you for responding immediately to the urgent needs of Iraqi . . .
Thank you for responding immediately to the urgent needs of Iraqi refugees fleeing from Fallujah. Without your immediate action, thousands would have died. It is because of your generosity that they have hope.
Right now, your investment is at work sustaining families and helping them heal from the horrors they’ve experienced.
Our partner said, “You gave more than food to the families of Fallujah. You gave them hope. You gave them reason to hang on. You showed them that you will stand with them and help create the more beautiful world they deserve.”
One woman, who preferred not to give her name, told us how she barely escaped from Fallujah with her four children:
In order to arrive at the refugee camp, this mother and her children had to sneak past ISIS insurgents, travel for days across difficult terrain, all the while avoiding hidden land mines. They eventually arrived at the camp malnourished, injured, and carrying nothing—only to find that the camp’s emergency supplies had completely run out.
All other NGOs had left the camp once it was deemed an active military zone. But through coordination with local officials, your emergency aid was delivered to this woman and her children as well as hundreds of other refugee families.
When sharing about her experience in Fallujah, she said, “We had nothing to eat. Just dates.” If they became ill, there were no doctors to help them. “If you got healed, you were healed. If you died, you died. What could we do?”
Most of the escapees from Fallujah were women, children, and the elderly. They had survived by sleeping in the open desert without food or water before arriving at the camp.
But because of your generosity, 500 of these families received 611,000 pounds of food, over 1.5 million liters of water, and 250 cooking stoves.
After experiencing horrific evil and suffering, your compassion meant these refugees could finally find rest, knowing their immediate needs were being met.
Thank you for choosing to act. Thank you for providing tangible hope in the simplest of ways . . . through a glass of water and a bag of rice. You have saved lives!
