HEALTH AND HOPE | Honduras

“Thanks to the rice, now I don’t have to feel hunger, and I’m growing a lot,” said Osmir, a 5-year-old boy living in Honduras.

When Osmir was 6 months old, he was diagnosed with leukemia. His mother, Sonia, doesn’t have a stable job, but sometimes she washes and irons clothes for other people. It’s very difficult for her to make enough money to pay for Osmir’s medical bills as well as food for her family. Osmir’s father often wastes the family’s money on purchasing alcohol and doesn’t support his children or live with them.

But because of your generosity, Sonia now has the help she needs. The food she received as a result of your compassion will help ease her burdens.

“I’m very grateful for the help provided to my family,” she said. “I can now count on the rice to feed my children and relieve the load.”

JUST IN TIME | Zimbabwe

When you helped ship food supplies to Zimbabwe, your gift impacted one tired, hardworking young woman named Emmaculate.

Not long ago, both of Emmaculate’s parents died. As the oldest child, she was now responsible for taking care of her many siblings and ensuring they had enough to eat.

But because Emmaculate was young and hadn’t been able to finish school, she struggled to find a job that would provide for the whole family. Fighting against hopelessness, Emmaculate spent every day looking for odd jobs or begging for food. She was almost completely dependent on the kindness of others.

Most of the time, her family survived on just one small meal a day.

But then your gift arrived. You sent food and emergency supplies to Emmaculate’s village at the exact moment hope seemed lost — they literally had nothing left to eat.

Because of your generosity, Emmaculate’s family now has a supply of 432 nutritious meals, and Emmaculate’s siblings are growing stronger and healthier every day!
