We like to keep you updated about what your sponsored child and other kids in the program have been up to over the past year … all because of your compassionate giving. And even though the world is a little different now because of the coronavirus, we were able to get this report of how your child has been doing over the past few months and knew you would want to hear it.

Staying busy in the new year

The weeks following Christmas were packed with fun activities and a variety of learning opportunities. Your child visited the children’s museum with friends and went for several walks on the beach since it’s not very far from the sponsorship program.

The staff also found ways to entertain the kids indoors, as well. They enjoyed making crafts and studying the Bible. Because of you support, your sponsored child is learning about God’s love every day.

A special birthday celebration

In February, the staff and children were invited to a quinceañera to celebrate the birthday of one of their friends who used to be in the sponsorship program. She had been in the program since she was 1 year old until recently when she was adopted by her forever family. Her new mom and dad were excited to throw this special celebration, and all of the kids were honored to celebrate this milestone with their long-time friend.

It was a precious time to celebrate, eat delicious food, and remember what sponsorship is all about: providing a better future for kids around the world. That’s what you do as a faithful sponsor to a child in Mexico. You and other generous sponsors make sure these children are fed, educated, and cared for until they, too, can be adopted one day or until they become strong, independent adults.

Learning valuable life skills

The older children in the home are already learning how to transition into responsible young adult life. In addition to juggling school, work, church, and a social life, they are also learning many valuable life skills. They are practicing how to budget and meal plan, cook, do laundry, and even drive!

Sundays are reserved for group Bible study. Each week, these young adults gather together to hear God’s Word and strengthen their faith. “Please continue to pray for our young adults as they live and learn all that God has for them while they prepare for life outside our home,” our partner said.

Coronavirus update

All of the children are safe and have not been directly affected by the coronavirus. They are practicing safe social distancing by sheltering in place at the children’s home where they are keeping up with their studies each day.

For fun, they are reading, watching movies, playing board games, and, of course, playing lots of soccer. Please continue to keep your sponsored child in your prayers during these uncertain times.
