What would Jesus do (during a crisis)?

Do you remember that acronym? “What would Jesus do?” was extremely popular when I was a kid. In fact, I had a bracelet and a Bible cover with those four letters stitched on them.

I haven’t seen those bracelets in a while, but it’s a question still worth asking: What would Jesus do today?

In a world full of starvation, violence, natural disasters, and a raging pandemic, Christ would help those who need it most. And right now, you can help people struggling to survive, too.

Take Adel, for example. He’s an Afghan father who wants nothing more than to keep his family safe and healthy. After the Taliban takeover, Adel’s family had to flee their home. They’ve been living in tents for weeks now … and there’s no end in sight.

“We have no money,” Adel said. “What will we do when the winter comes? We will need food, water, blankets, everything. We have nothing.”

What would Jesus do?

He would help them, just like He calls us to do in Deuteronomy.

For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’ — Deuteronomy 15:11 (ESV)

Through it all, He would show them love.

Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. — 1 John 3:18 (ESV)

That’s exactly what you can do when you give where needed most! You can follow Christ’s example by helping provide for people’s immediate physical needs while also showing them God’s love through your generosity.

Every $14 helps one person in need by providing aid like food, clean water, medicine, warm clothing and blankets, Bibles, and more.

Whether you help feed a hungry family in Afghanistan, provide medical care for a sick child in Guatemala, or help meet some other urgent need, your gift will make the greatest impact around the world.

So please do what Jesus would do.

Show love through your actions by providing physical help and spiritual hope for people who need it most.
